Kick off spring with the ultimate girlfriend getaway: coffee, cocktails, architecture tours, and fresh seafood in the Hostess City.
The Collins Quarter owns this laid-back weekend meal. Snag a sidewalk table and order the short rib– studded "# Tag This Hash" and a spiced lavender mocha.
Savannah's rich history is beautifully evoked in Architectural Tours of Savannah's superb 90-minute walking tour. For floral fiends, the Savannah Tour of Homes & Gardens (March 23–26) features seminars, walks, and more.
Do lunch the Southern way with the North Carolina/Memphis/Georgia–influenced menu at Sandfly Bar-B-Q at the Streamliner, a restored circa 1938 diner.
You might wait in line, but it's worth every moment to enjoy a scoop of Tutti Frutti, Rum Bisque, or any of the old-fashioned and house-made flavors at Leopold's Ice Cream.
Hunting and Gathering
Savannah's best collection of independent shops and boutiques is on Bull Street, but make sure to perform two detours: to The Paris Market and Brocante for gifts and housewares, and to Fiesta & More for vintage Fiestaware.
Make no mistake: Artillery is a bar for grown-ups only, with a gorgeous interior, a superb cocktail menu, and a rare collection of spirits. In other words, you may never want to leave.
Dinners to Die For
The food scene is heating up fast, fueled by Hugh Acheson's The Florence and Mashama Bailey's The Grey (cocktail magic, pictured). (Tuck in at the Diner Bar up front for the pimiento cheese spread.) Best newcomer: The Wyld Dock Bar, a seafood-centered culinary star with a pier surrounded by marsh and adorned with twinkling lights.
Chocolatier Adam Turoni's two boutiques (one themed as a library, the other as a grand dining room), are as divine as his chocolates.
Check in: On the fringe of the historic district, the 145-room Kimpton Brice Hotel (pictured) occupies a former cotton warehouse and Coca-Cola bottling plant with modern panache. From the seersucker- and bow tie–clad staff to daily wine-fueled happy hours, borrowable bikes, an excellent in-house restaurant, and a breezy interior courtyard, the pleasures are easy and plentiful. Rates start at $165.
