In an 1860s-era mercantile building overlooking the waterfront, Jackson's Steakhouse is a local favorite for surf-and-turf fare, such as steak topped with fried green tomatoes and crabmeat. The restaurant, by the way, is named after Andrew Jackson, famous in these parts not so much for being our nation's seventh president but for accepting the 1821 transfer of Florida from Spainish to American possession right outside the restaurant, in Plaza Ferdinand.
